Statistics show that about one-sixth of the population of Hong Kong is descendants from Chiu Chow. From as early on as the 1940s, the Chiu Chow immigrants already brought their intriguing cuisine to Hong Kong. Back in those days, Chiu Chow food had not entered the mainstream. Only a few street snacks were sold to soothe the homesickness of the migrant workers. After decades, many Chiu Chow dishes have cemented their place in the food scene of Hong Kong, becoming a significant part of local life.

At this event, participants will be treated to an authentic Chiu Chow lunch at the clubhouse of H.K. Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce. Anven Wu from the Board of Managing Directors of H.K. Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce will share the cultural customs and food stories from Chiu Chow, and the bondings between Chiu Chow and Hong Kong.
