About The Orchestra Academy

The Orchestra Academy Hong Kong is the first joint programme co-directed by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HKPhil) and the School of Music of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), funded by “TrustTomorrow” of The Swire Group Charitable Trust (Swire Trust) with a promising sponsorship of approximately HK$9 million over a 3-year period. The programme, consisting of two schemes namely Fellowship Programme and Young Pro Platform, aims at enhancing professional training for distinguished graduates from HKAPA’s School of Music and facilitating their career development in the orchestral field. Those who are admitted to The Orchestra Academy will contribute their talents to servicing the community through volunteering opportunities.

2021 / 22 Season: “Venture Into The Unknown” presented by Young Pro Platform (YPP)

YPP will kick off the season with full ensemble concerts “Eroica Reimagined: Adams X Beethoven” in The Box, Freespace in June, followed by 8 chamber music concerts in Haw Par Music and Xiqu Centre Tea House Theatre from July to October. The season programming is curated by 19 YPP musicians, showcasing a wide spectrum of musical styles and genres, including classical, contemporary and pop music.

About "The Hearth"

We believe everything in life can be an inspiration of arts, and everyone can unlock their artistic potential through participation and appreciation. By bringing people together to share a time and a space, performing arts can create bonding and memories that are unique and relevant to those on and off the stage.

“The Hearth” is a regular thematic programme to explore how performing arts can connect people from different communities and create synergy. By integrating music, dance, theatre, films, literature and more, each monthly programme is designed to look into how performing arts can nurture creativity, establish identity and care for wellbeing. These programmes are curated and led by creative and academic professionals across various sectors, presented in a range of performances, workshops, screenings, games, talks and more to encourage participation, evoke thinking and stimulate discussion around topics that concern us.
